A clear-eyed field guide to building ventures that fit their place.

United Venture Guide

Write for us

We welcome thoughtful pitches about the choices and conditions that shape small ventures in particular places.

What to pitch

Propose a focused article about place, an offer, seasonal rhythms, materials or how a venture meets people. Strong pitches name the question, explain why it matters to our readers and show what the piece will help them understand or decide.

What makes a good contribution

We value clear reasoning, specific examples, useful distinctions and a voice that respects the reader. Keep claims proportionate, explain the limits of your argument and avoid promotional copy. We do not accept pieces that depend on unsupported claims or professional advice.

How to send a proposal

Send a short pitch through the Contact page, selecting the editorial option and including a brief outline. Please do not send a complete draft unless we have requested one. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication.

Our point of view

A venture should make sense where it stands

A good idea takes its shape from more than a product. Place, pace, available materials and the people passing through all matter.
